Say "I Do" To Healthy, Glowing Skin With Cosmetic Acupuncture

Vow to love, honor & support your skin as long as you both shall live.

The health and appearance of your skin is a direct reflection of your overall health. Dull skin, fine lines, acne, loss of tone - these are all signs of a deeper imbalance. The good news is, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been used for beauty for ages. TCM includes nutrition, herbs, lifestyle recommendations, acupuncture (and other techniques like facial Gua Sha),all helping to address the root causes of skin issues but also used cosmetically.

Looks may not be the most important thing, but they sura are a thing. How we feel about how we look impacts our confidence and mood and can further impede our mental and physical health. But there may be another answer besides diving into a frenzy of creams, scrubs and fillers!

It's important to remember that your skin is with you forever and should be nourished and cherished. Jumping to invasive and sometimes toxic procedures like facelift surgeries & botox injections might be a quick fix but can cause reactions and potentially long standing issues. Many creams and masks may also do more harm than good without actually addressing the issue.

Cosmetic Acupuncture could be the healthy, natural alternative you're looking for with long lasting health benefits instead of side effects.

Something Old

Forget old, acupuncture is ancient. With a multiple century track record of being successful for a variety of conditions it's hard to deny the benefits. Another undeniable fact is that your daily habits play a role in the health of your skin and how well it will respond to any treatment or procedure.  Some advice may seem boring or old but doesn't make it wrong. Here are five tips for healthy glowing skin sans needles and knives:

  1. Wash, tone and moisturize with all natural, organic, fragrance free products. Keep things simple and gentle. You don’t need to scour your skin like a dirty pan. Instead pamper your skin by washing in small circles with a soft cotton wash cloth.

  2. Eat a clean diet full of antioxidant rich foods like berries and dark green veggies. Avoid oily, fried foods which lead to greasy skin and acne, food high in sodium (like processed or ready-made foods) which dries out the skin and foods with white flour and sugar which cause inflammation and puffiness.

  3. Fish Oils. The essential fatty acids found in cold water fish like salmon, moisturize the skin from the inside out. If you take fish oil in supplement form, be sure to avoid supermarket and big box store brands because they may not store them properly and will turn rancid.

  4. Get enough sleep, regularly. When you are well rested the chances are much lower that you will wake with bags and dark circles under your eyes. Sleep restores energy. Energy radiates out from your face and body posture which makes us look and feel fabulous. If you have problems with sleep quality, acupuncture is also very helpful with improving deep zzz's.

  5. Drink water. Everybody thinks they drink enough water. Just for fun, we double dog dare you to count out the minimum ounces you should drink a day. (At least drink half your body weight in ounces. example - 100lbs=50oz water intake. Extra active/lots of exercise? drink more!) Drinking too much caffeine and sugar laden beverages, or alcoholic beverages cause dehydration and inflammation of the skin. Water with lemon or cucumber tastes wonderfully refreshing and leaves the skin healthy and moisturized. Besides hydration, water plays a huge role in cleaning your insides. Would you take a shower in iced tea?
