Acupuncture Eases Your Mind and Improves Success Rates of IVF

Everyone knows that IVF is stressful and causes anxiety, but did you know Acupuncture is your answer?

A new study, recently published, states that Acupuncture reduces anxiety in women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). A randomized-controlled study of 43 women undergoing an IVF procedure had their anxiety levels measured during this 4-week study. The women were separated into 2 groups. Each group received acupuncture one (1) time per week for four (4) weeks. Half the group received IVF acupuncture points Yintang, HT 7, PC 6, RN 17, DU 20. (All common points used regularly for anxiety in patients). The second group received "sham Acupuncture," which is needling at non-acupuncture points near the areas of the true Acupuncture points.

The control group, receiving the sham-Acupuncture did not see any changes, while those women in the true-Acupuncture group noticed a significant reduction in anxiety. The researchers concluded that acupuncture reduces anxiety and psychological strain for women undergoing IVF.

Growing Trend: Integration of Acupuncture within Modern Medical Practices

Study 1: In another study, research showed higher ovulation and pregnancy rates for women receiving Acupuncture combined with clomid, compared with women receiving only clomid.

Study 2: Four recent studies focused on the ability of Acupuncture to improve fertility treatment outcomes. One study, investigated 5,807 women who were undergoing IVF and concluded that Acupuncture improves the clinical pregnancy rates and live births for women.

Study 3: Another study published in the American Journal of Reproductive Immunology proves that using Acupuncture points SP 6 and ST 36 prevents egg implantation failure.

Study 4: 309 women were given Electro-Acupuncture and the study showed significant improvement in the clinical outcome of the embryo transfer.
